In the past, Public Service Commission races have generated little to no interest… until now.
Because of you, this was one of the most followed and hotly contested races in Louisiana this year. Election night results had us separated by a slim margin, just 50.85% to 49.15%. This was an astounding achievement against a heavily favored incumbent spending nearly unlimited campaign cash and heavily backed by utilities companies and a political machine desperately clinging to the status quo.
I want to thank everyone that helped in the campaign. We did this together and have so much to be proud of today. Thank you all…from those who financially supported us to everyone who waved campaign signs and shared our story on Facebook. Every single thing you did gave us the momentum to force a heavily entrenched incumbent into a runoff and within two percentage points of a new day at the Commission. And we did it all without taking a dime from the regulated utility companies, proving there is a better way.
We could not have done this without you and we stand ever confident that great change is possible when good people work together. There is so much work still to be done, but today we are stronger than before and together will achieve even more. We climbed a tall mountain to get here. Now begins the task of building from this new height with our eyes set on the future.
